Theory + Confined Water

Open Water Dives 1 & 2

Common questions
Open Water FAQ
Do I need to know how to swim?+
Yes — you need to be comfortable in the water and able to swim at least 200m. You don't need to be a strong swimmer, just comfortable.
Is there a minimum age?+
Minimum age is 10 years old. Students under 15 receive a Junior Open Water Diver certification.
Can I do the theory before I arrive?+
Yes. SSI digital theory works on your phone or tablet. We'll send access as soon as you book — complete it on the ferry over.
What if I tried diving before and had a bad experience?+
Let us know. We adapt completely. Many of our best students had a rough first experience elsewhere — and found something completely different here.
What if I'm not comfortable on Day 1?+
We never rush. If you need more time in confined water before the ocean, we take it. Your comfort comes first, always.
Is my SSI certification valid worldwide?+
Yes — your SSI Open Water certification is internationally recognised and valid for life. You can dive anywhere in the world with it.
