Try Scuba — Questions answered
Do I need a diving licence or certification?+
No licence or certification is needed. Try Scuba is designed for absolute beginners — you breathe underwater for the first time under the direct supervision of a professional SSI instructor. There is nothing to study in advance.
Is Try Scuba safe for first-timers?+
Yes. Your instructor is in the water with you at all times and the first dive is in shallow water. We cover a brief safety briefing before entering the water and everything is completely controlled. Thousands of people try scuba diving every year in Koh Tao safely.
Can I do 2 dives in one session?+
Yes. We offer a 2-dive option where you go a little deeper on the second dive — depending on how you feel after the first. Most people who try one dive want to do a second. The 2-dive package is from 3,300 THB.
Can I upgrade to the full Open Water course later?+
Absolutely — and many people do. Your Try Scuba experience can count towards your SSI Open Water course if you decide to get certified. Just ask us on WhatsApp and we can arrange the upgrade at any point during your stay.
What should I bring on the day?+
Just a swimsuit (worn under the wetsuit), sunscreen, and a towel. All diving equipment is included — wetsuit, mask, fins, BCD and regulator. We also recommend bringing water and a snack for after the dive.
