Pool training at the resort
Your first dives happen in our pool at the resort — relaxed, supervised, and at your own pace before entering the sea.
Private boat from the beach
No crowded pier. Walk from the resort to our private boat and head straight to Koh Tao's best beginner dive sites.
Full equipment included
Wetsuit, BCD, regulator, mask, fins and cylinder — all included. You just need a swimsuit and sunscreen.
SSI certification
Your SSI Open Water certification is recognised worldwide. You'll be able to dive anywhere in the world after this course.
Insurance included
Dive accident insurance is included for the full duration of your course.

Course structure
3 days to certified
Day 1
Pool & theory
Online theory (pre-arrival) + confined water skills in our resort pool. Learn mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy, and emergency procedures.
Day 2
Open water dives 1 & 2
Your first real open water dives around Koh Tao. Shallow, calm sites with beautiful marine life. Practise skills in the sea with your instructor.
Day 3
Open water dives 3 & 4
Two more dives, slightly deeper. Build confidence, practice navigation, and start diving more independently. Certification confirmed.

Open Water Course — Questions
How long is the Open Water course?+
The SSI Open Water course takes 3 days. Day 1 covers pool/confined water training and theory. Days 2 and 3 are open water dives — 4 dives in total in the warm waters around Koh Tao.
Is Koh Tao good for beginner divers?+
Koh Tao is one of the world's best places to learn to dive. Warm water (28–30°C), great visibility, calm bays, and a huge variety of dive sites at all depths make it ideal for beginners. Carabao Diving's location in Chalok Bay is especially sheltered and relaxed.
What is included in the course?+
Everything you need: full dive equipment, all SSI course materials, pool sessions, 4 open water dives, and your SSI Open Water certification. Insurance and boat fees are also included. The only thing you need to bring is a swimsuit and sunscreen.
Do you offer accommodation packages?+
Yes — we offer three options: course only (9,900 THB), course + dormitory stay (9,900 THB including 3 nights), and course + private AC room (10,900 THB including 3 nights). Ask us on WhatsApp to find out what's available for your dates.
Is this SSI or PADI?+
Carabao Diving is an SSI dive school. SSI (Scuba Schools International) is one of the world's leading dive training agencies and your Open Water certification is recognised globally — at any dive centre, on any liveaboard, anywhere in the world.
Do I need any experience or fitness level?+
No experience is needed. You need to be comfortable in the water and be able to swim 200m. There are no time requirements — just basic comfort in the water. We assess this on the first pool session.
